One person was medevaced to Edmonton after a motorcycle accident on Yellowknife’s Ingraham Trail on Monday evening, RCMP say.

The police said the collision happened just after 6pm between kilometre 14 and 15 near the Ptarmigan Mine site.

According to an RCMP news release issued on Tuesday. the motorcycle was travelling east on Highway 4 toward Prelude Lake when it passed another vehicle in an “unsafe location.” To avoid oncoming traffic, the motorcycle veered left into the ditch, RCMP said.

The person injured was reported to be the 53-year-old motorcyclist, who was taken to Yellowknife’s Stanton Territorial Hospital before being sent to Edmonton.

RCMP said road conditions and impairment are not believed to be factors in the accident but an investigation is ongoing. The Ingraham Trail was closed for a few hours while RCMP analyzed the scene.
