The Yellowknife Golf Club says the city’s Copperhouse restaurant and catering firm will no longer operate the restaurant at the golf course’s clubhouse.
President of the Yellowknife Golf Club Shaun Morris said in a Facebook post that Copperhouse exercised “the opt out clause in the contract and will be walking away from operating the clubhouse for the remainder of the 2026 golf season.”
In a message to Cabin Radio, co-owner of Copperhouse Mark Henry said “there’s no controversy, just a routine business call.”
“We’re always assessing where our time and resources are best spent, and this decision came out of that,” Henry said.
Morris asked members to be patient with staff “if there are some inconveniences and service changes in the coming weeks.”
Cabin Radio could not reach Morris to learn more about the golf club’s plans and who will take over the contract.
Henry’s message to Cabin Radio suggested food and beverages will remain available, but this could not be confirmed.
“We’ve followed our contractual obligations and are committed to making sure club members aren’t affected: food and drink will stay available,” said Henry.
“As proud Yellowknifers, we want the course to stay a strong part of the summer scene here.”
