An Ontario 17-year-old faces charges connected to drug trafficking after a “disturbance at the local grocery store” in Délı̨nę, police say.
The youth cannot be named under Canadian law because of his age. RCMP said he was arrested on Monday in connection with the disturbance, the detail of which was not given.
The youth did not cooperate with officers and lied about his identity, police alleged. RCMP said subsequent searches uncovered cannabis and nearly $10,000 on the youth’s person, alongside cocaine at the residence where he was believed to be staying.
Police said he is charged with possessing cocaine, more than 30 grams of cannabis and property obtained by crime, as well as obstructing a peace officer.
“The youth is set to be released from custody to an adult and will be bound by a Release Order including the condition not to return to Délı̨nę, except for court purposes,” RCMP stated.
