Fire bans lifted in North Slave, South Slave, some NWT parks

Fire bans have been lifted at a range of territorial parks in the North Slave and South Slave, the NWT government announced on Friday after broader region-wide bans ended.

Bans across the entirety of the two regions were instituted on June 30 with a period of extreme fire weather forecast.

Those regional bans ended on Wednesday. NWT Parks followed that on Friday by lifting fire bans at just under a dozen of its parks, though restrictions at many other parks remain in place.

“Even within territorial parks where fire bans have been lifted, always remember to follow good fire safety practices and make sure to follow all fire orders and public safety information for your region,” NWT Parks stated.
