Sousanh Chanthalangsy, co-owner of the One of a Thai food truck, said when a Family Feud Canada producer reached out over Instagram, she instantly said yes.
“Our whole family watches Family Feud and it’s kind of like a dream come true. We actually get to finally be on the show, which is exciting. I can’t believe it,” said Chanthalangsy.
Chanthalangsy said the family went through a few rounds of interviews where producers asked about their hobbies, their personalities and how they deal with situations as a family. Chanthalangsy said the family “gave them a lot of content, that’s for sure.”
“I think it was endless,” joked cousin Linda Khoungkong, who co-owns the One of a Thai food truck, a staple on Yellowknife streets and at events for years.
Chanthalangsy said the family has known for a month. While they didn’t want to announce anything before Folk on the Rocks, Khoungkong said, the food truck crew working the music festival wore the same t-shirts they plan to wear for the taping, with the slogan “baw phet baw saap,” meaning: not spicy, not delicious.

The family will fly to Toronto on Friday. They will film episodes in front of a live studio audience on Saturday and maybe film on Sunday if they make it to the third round.
“It’s like winning already, being picked and to be broadcast,” said Khoungkong.
Khoungkong said the family has been preparing by playing along with, and sometimes yelling at, Family Feud Canada contestants on the TV, but she is hoping they don’t freeze up on the live stage.
“Yeah, airing our dirty laundry on national TV, that’ll be fun,” Khoungkong laughed.

Chanthalangsy said she is just looking forward to sharing the experience with her family.
“I am so happy and thrilled that I get to do it with my husband, with my cousins,” said Chanthalangsy, calling it a dream come true.
Khoungkong said they will plan a viewing party in Yellowknife when the episodes air.
