Yellowknife RCMP say they arrested two individuals in connection to two assaults reported on July 22 and 23 that police believe are “linked to Yellowknife’s drug subculture.”
RCMP said they received a report of stabbing at a Yellowknife encampment on July 22 around midnight. One woman was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital with serious injuries and needed surgery, police said in a Monday news release.
Before 6am on July 23, RCMP received a report of a home invasion on Bigelow Crescent in which an occupant of the home was assaulted by two individuals. The suspects escaped out of a window and the occupant was sent to the Stanton Territorial Hospital.
After investigating both crime scenes, RCMP determined one of the suspects in the home invasion was also involved in the assault at the encampment.
RCMP arrested Yellowknife residents Austin Moore on July 29 and Frankie Cook on July 30.

RCMP charged both individuals with aggravated assault, uttering threats and breaking and entering.
Moore was also charged with failing to comply with a probation order and resisting a peace officer, RCMP said.
RCMP said Moore and Cook had a bailing hearing and were remanded into custody. Police did not say when they will appear in court again.
