Curious to learn more about what its like to own an electric vehicle in the North? The City of Yellowknife is inviting residents to attend a free Electric Vehicle Awareness Symposium next month.
The city said the symposium will bring together local electric vehicle owners, technical experts and community organizations.
It said attendees can expect to explore a variety of electric vehicles or EVs, and learn how to use an EV charger, how EVs perform in cold climates, and how they can contribute to sustainability and climate action.
“This symposium provides residents with the opportunity to explore electric vehicle ownership through demonstrations, conversations, and firsthand experience,” Greg Littlefair, Yellowknife’s acting director of planning and development, stated in a news release.
“Supporting informed decision-making is an important part of implementing the city’s climate action plan, and this symposium creates a space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration to help build a more sustainable Yellowknife.”

The city is hosting the event in partnership with the Arctic Energy Alliance, the Yellowknife Car Share Co-op, Naka Power Utilities, Ecology North and the NWT energy division.
The symposium is set to take place on Saturday, September 12 from 11 an to 2pm in the Aquatic Centre parking lot.
