Hay River residents can provide feedback on potential changes to the town’s community plan, as well as its zoning and building, and unsightly land bylaws in upcoming engagement sessions.
The first public hearing will be on the community plan and Zoning and Building Bylaw set to take place on August 17 at 7pm at the Doug Wieterman Hall in the Hay River Community Centre.
The proposed amendments to the community plan and bylaw include incorporating new flood mapping data, as well as rezoning a lot in the town to allow for a new cemetery and rezoning the Sundog area for a territorial long-term care facility and residential buildings.

Beyond the hearing, residents can also email feedback for council consideration by August 20.

The town said residents can provide feedback on potential changes to its Unsightly Land Bylaw on August 18 and 19 from 6:30 to 8:30pm each day, and on August 20 from 12 to 2pm. The public engagement sessions will be held at the Hay River Curling Club Lounge.
Strategic Steps, Inc is leading the engagement process and is asking residents to fill out a survey before they attend public sessions to “generate some specific, solution-focused discussion points.” The survey will close on September 8 at noon.
