Yellowknife RCMP say they responded to a helicopter crash near Gamètì on Sunday in which three people were rescued with minor injuries.
In a Monday press release, RCMP said the helicopter crashed in a lake around 17 km north of the community.
Police said they began a search and rescue operation with the Tłı̨chǫ government and community members to locate the aircraft. Community members launched a search by boat.
RCMP said they received a report of the crash around 2:55pm and the three occupants of the helicopter were located and rescued at 5:35pm.
They were taken to the local health centre for treatment of minor injuries.
“The Yellowknife RCMP would like to thank the Tłı̨chǫ Government, the local leadership and community members for their assistance,” the news release stated.
Police said the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the crash.
