RCMP say they are investigating after a 52-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Fort Liard over the weekend.
In a Monday news release, police said they received a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Valley Main Street around 11:55pm on Saturday.
RCMP said officers attended the scene and located the man, who was not named, deceased.
“The Fort Liard RCMP would like to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim, and to the community of Fort Liard,” the release states.
According to preliminary information, police said, the man was hit by a vehicle which fled the scene.

Fort Liard RCMP said they are investigating the incident with the support of the BC RCMP and NWT Coroner Service. That includes an ongoing search for the vehicle and driver in collaboration with the Northern Rockies and Fort Simpson RCMP detachments.
