RCMP say they will conduct a remotely piloted aircraft exercise about 150 kilometres outside Tuktoyaktuk from August 22-27.
RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region and RCMP Air Services will participate in the exercise, a Thursday news release stated.
The drones will be flown in a range spanning 150 kilometres southwest of Tuk and 250 to 300 kilometres east of the hamlet. From August 22-27, this airspace will be temporarily restricted
“These operations are routine in nature and do not stem from any immediate risk or threat to the community,” the RCMP news release said.
The police said the exercises strengthen border security and Arctic sovereignty.
