A new three-year agreement between the Tłı̨chǫ Government and Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation aims to help more Tłı̨chǫ citizens build careers in skilled trades and project management.
Through the Tłı̨chǫ Apprenticeship Pathway, participants will gain access to paid work placements and hands-on experience in trades, apprenticeships and project management.
According to a Friday news release, the initiative is designed to streamline training intakes and expand local workforce planning.
The pathway creates a full-time apprenticeship coordinator and includes school supports, employer assistance and project management trainee placements.
“This partnership is an important step in building opportunities for Tłı̨chǫ Citizens and strengthening the future of our communities,” Tłı̨chǫ Grand Chief Jackson Lafferty was quoted as saying.

“We are creating pathways for citizens to gain skills, enter the trades, become apprentices and take part in the construction, infrastructure, and business opportunities that support our Nation.”
The agreement also involves the Mine Training Society alongside employers and training providers.
