Yellowknife’s Folk on the Rocks music festival has won the community excellence award at the 2026 Western Canadian Music Awards.

“It’s amazing to have the industry notice what’s happening up here, and it’s even more amazing that we’re all part of this community that puts together one of the best subarctic summer weekends,” Folk on the Rocks organizers wrote on Facebook.

“This one is for all of us!”

The festival takes place each July on the sandy shores of Frame Lake and features musicians, art demonstrations and vendors.

It’s 47th edition will take place on July 16-18, 2027.
