The territorial government’s workforce readiness program – offering up to $100,000 per project – is now accepting applications.

Announced in September, the funding program is meant support community and Indigenous governments to help residents prepare for the potential employment opportunities coming with major projects.

The first round of applications will focus on training associated with the Mackenzie Valley Highway, but is not limited to the communities along the proposed route from Wrigley to Inuvik.

The GNWT said it may also consider applications for initiatives related to other major projects during the first intake.

Applications via the GNWT’s website are open until November 30 at 5pm. Any submission after November will be considered if there is remaining funding, the territory stated.
