Yellowknife’s 48 Street reopens after incident

Emergency vehicles blocked a section of Yellowknife’s 48 Street north of Niven Gate on Friday evening.

The road was reported to be open again later that night.

Around 7:30pm, traffic appeared to be stopped and waiting north of the blockade, south of Jackfish Lake.

An RCMP officer on the scene described it as “active,” but declined to provide further comment.

The police have not yet issued any public statements about the occurrence.
