The Yellowknife Ski Club is inviting residents to get ready for winter at its annual Snow Show from 11am-1pm on Saturday, November 7 at the city’s ski chalet.
Despite the lack of snow so far, the club is looking ahead to the start of the ski season. Weather reports suggest snow is expected in Yellowknife this weekend.
Saturday’s event will feature a showcase of the club’s programs, lessons and memberships, alongside a popular used gear sale.
People can browse second-hand equipment, get advice from experienced skiers and find gear to help them get started with cross-country skiing.
Those looking to sell their own equipment can drop it off at the chalet on Friday evening between 7pm and 9pm. The club takes 10 percent of each sale, with the remaining 90 percent going back to the seller.
Ski club president Kerry Wheler said the Snow Show is about more than just finding equipment. She described the event as “a gathering space where you’ll meet other enthusiastic outdoor adventurists.”
The event is open to skiers of all experience levels, whether they’re seasoned members or looking to try cross-country skiing for the first time.
