Police in Yellowknife have arrested and charged a man over a late-night armed robbery at the downtown Reddi Mart six months ago.

A cashier was forced to hand over money at gunpoint on the night of January 3, before the suspect fled on foot.

On Wednesday, almost half a year to the day after the incident, Yellowknife RCMP said they had arrested 34-year-old Andrew Jim Roberts of Thornhill, BC, in connection with the crime.

Roberts was arrested last week, following what RCMP termed an “in-depth investigation.”
