Laurier-ARI Spring Speaker Series

Have you ever wondered how snowfall might be changing and impacting ice on Yellowknife lakes? Did you know muskox are returning to the boreal forest after being on the tundra for more than a century? Join us at Makerspace YK from 6 – 7:30pm to learn from the researchers who are seeking to answer these questions!

This is the first event of a four-part in-person speaker series at Makerspace YK! The series will feature presentations by eight early-career researchers with ongoing research projects in the Northwest Territories on topics such as ice, water, wildlife, and climate.

This series is an opportunity for Yellowknifers to connect with the science happening around them, and for researchers to connect with the community. Everyone is welcome! Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

We’ve partnered with Ecology North for this first event which coincides with their bike tune-up! So, come celebrate Earth Week at Makerspace YK with us by getting your bike tuned-up while listening to some interesting talks about local research!
