Indian Cabins Trading Post in northern Alberta is currently not selling gas as its tanks are no longer certified.

The store has to replace the tanks, an employee telling Cabin Radio the process is quite expensive.

Store staff do not yet have a timeline for when this work will be done.

Indian Cabins is one of a limited range of options for travellers looking to fuel up on the remote highways connecting the Northwest Territories and Alberta.

This latest change in service comes just weeks after another gas station along the same route, in Enterprise, NT, was reported to have closed.

Residents in Enterprise say there has been no sign that its gas station intends to reopen in the near future.

If you’re travelling through the South Slave or Northern Alberta before either of the gas stations can resume service, you remain able to fill up in Hay River, Fort Providence, High Level, or Meander River.
