Assault investigation turns up drugs worth $50,000 in Jàk Park
Police arrested three men and seized drugs and cash from the Jàk Park campground after a “serious assault,” RCMP said on Tuesday.
RCMP were alerted to an apparent assault on Friday. Police said the victim, who was not named, went to hospital with his injuries and was released shortly after.
At Jàk Territorial Park, just outside Inuvik, RCMP found three men they believe to be connected to the assault: Justin Callioux, Joshua Houle, and Coltyn Petruniak.
Police executed a search warrant while arresting the three, during which they seized approximately 330 grams of crack cocaine – valued by RCMP at $49,000 – alongside 220 grams of marijuana (valued by RCMP at $4,000) and a “significant sum” of cash.
Callioux and Petruniak have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and assault. Houle has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and uttering threats against property.
RCMP said nobody was injured during the search. They are not looking for any other suspects.
