RCMP say they have seized drugs in two separate incidents involving homes in Norman Wells and Inuvik.

In Norman Wells, RCMP say officers were tipped off when a 9-1-1 caller on Saturday said nothing but allowed emergency responders to hear audio of “yelling and signs of distress.”

Police arrived at the home to check on the caller’s safety to find “drug trafficking paraphernalia in plain view.”

A subsequent search uncovered 18 grams of cocaine and three replica handguns.

Charges related to trafficking are pending against Norman Wells 21-year-old Tegan Sutherland, Fort Smith resident Theron Manuel, 23, and Edmonton 25-year-old Mustafa Robleh-Skolos.

Meanwhile, RCMP say their weekend search at an Inuvik apartment complex turned up 60 grams of crack cocaine.

The search of the Bompas Place apartments followed an investigation that police say demonstrated two apartments were “being used by the same group for drug trafficking” in the town.

Charges related to trafficking are pending against two people from Inuvik and two from British Columbia. Their names were not made public.

“The Inuvik RCMP will continue to focus on disrupting the supply of these dangerous substances in our community. We will not tolerate individuals that come to Inuvik and undertake these illegal activities,” Inuvik detachment commander S/Sgt Jesse Aubin was quoted as saying.
