The new Stanton Territorial Hospital will host a grand opening ceremony on the afternoon of Friday, July 12.
The $350-million building first began accepting patients on May 26.
Friday’s ceremony, which begins at 2:30pm, includes the unveiling of a commemorative sculpture.
The ceremony is not open to the public, but the territorial government said it would be live-streamed via Facebook.
Speeches, an opening prayer, lighting of the qulliq, a fire feeding ceremony, drumming, fiddling, and a flute performance will take place in the hospital’s therapeutic gardens, weather permitting.
An artist showcase, featuring pieces from each region of the NWT, will then be held inside the hospital’s main atrium.
