Three fire trucks and a range of other emergency vehicles were called to an incident at a commercial unit in downtown Yellowknife late on Monday.
Firefighters’ efforts appeared to be centred on a single-floor unit bearing the name of Magic Touch, a commercial laundry facility on 44 Street near 50 Avenue, behind the Sunlines convenience store.
Multiple emergency responders arrived just after 10pm, residents of the street said.
Firefighters could be seen entering and exiting the building via a garage doorway.
By 11:20pm, crews had begun to wind up their operation.
Onlookers reported seeing smoke from the area of the building, though not visible fire.
The exact nature of the incident could not be immediately confirmed. Nor was there any information regarding injuries.
