Aklavik, Fort McPherson and Tsiigehtchic residents are being told to brace for a “spring storm” on Friday.
Federal weather forecasters say “freezing rain or wet snow will begin Friday morning and will transition to heavy snow through the day.”
Up to 15 cm of snow is expected by Saturday morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada said in a weather advisory.
Snow should taper off as Saturday progresses.
The Mackenzie Delta has already had more snow than usual this past winter.
“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations,” the advisory warned. “Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”
