Northwestel says an ongoing issue is affecting internet speed in Mackenzie Valley communities and technicians are trying to solve the problem.
Residents in Inuvik began reporting slow internet speeds to Cabin Radio on Saturday.
One said the company had initially called the problem an “individual line issue” at their home, then later told them a larger concern was developing.
On Tuesday afternoon, in a brief statement, the company said it was “aware that some customers in the Mackenzie Valley area, including the communities of Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, Aklavik, Fort McPherson, and Tsiigehtchic, are experiencing issues with their internet speeds.”
“Our technicians are working hard to resolve the issue,” Northwestel added.
No timeline was given for that work.
