RCMP have confirmed the death of missing NWT 41-year-old Tyler Peterson, whose passing is now being treated as a homicide.
In a Tuesday news release, RCMP said human remains had been found on August 15 in Mackenzie County, northern Alberta.
A medical examiner identified the deceased as Tyler Peterson four days later. He had not been in touch with friends or family since July 3 and was the subject of an RCMP missing persons appeal on July 10.
RCMP said the medical examiner had identified “the manner of death as a homicide.”
Police said Alberta RCMP’s major crimes unit has taken over the investigation and will be working in conjunction with NWT officers.
No further information was available.
