A 40-year-old woman faces a series of charges over a stabbing reported in the vicinity of Yellowknife’s Sunridge Apartments, police say.

On Friday last week, police said four people had been arrested after officers were called to the scene of a reported stabbing.

“Officers attended the scene and confirmed a person had been assaulted with a weapon, after which the assailant had fled in a vehicle,” RCMP said in a Tuesday update.

“Officers located the vehicle a short time later and arrested several suspects believed to be involved in the assault.”

Police said one suspect, a woman whose name was not made public, is now charged with aggravated assault, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and obstructing a peace officer.

RCMP said she is next due in court on October 29.

“The RCMP believe there are witnesses to this assault that have not come forward to police,” Tuesday’s news release added. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Yellowknife detachment at 867-669-1111 or leave a tip via Crime Stoppers.
