Victor Ugyuk now faces murder charge over Mark Poodlat’s death

A 32-year-old now faces a murder charge over the death of a man following an incident outside Yellowknife’s sobering centre earlier in the week.

Victor Ugyuk had initially been charged with aggravated assault over the incident, which saw 36-year-old Mark Poodlat medevaced to Edmonton on Tuesday before passing away on Thursday.

Video footage published online shows a man strike Poodlat in the face three times, causing him to collapse.
