Four NWT projects are among the recipients of Field Law’s 2024 community fund program.
A total of $15,000 was available to applicants across the territory, with public votes helping to determine how that funding would be distributed.
In a Tuesday press release, Field Law announced the Yellowknife Gymnastics Club will be awarded $6,000 for its Gymnastics for All program while a project offering peer support for families of children with autism will get $5,000.
Expansion and revitalization of the Kimberlite Career and Technical Centre received $2,000 as did an NWT wellness map and Indigenous wellness programs from Sweetgrass Healing Centre, which won an employees’ choice award.
According to Field Law, the law firm awarded a total of $80,000 to winning projects across the NWT and Alberta. The company said more than 51,000 votes were cast for a record 175 applications during the online voting period.
“Everyone at Field Law is grateful to all those who submitted ideas and cast a vote for their favourite ones,” Field Law managing partner Jeremiah Kowalchuk said in a statement.
“The last two years have been record-breaking in terms of applications, demonstrating a great need for community giving programs and organizations in need of support. We are consistently impressed by the quality and diversity of applicants. Congratulations to all those who received funding today.”
