RCMP in Hay River say “a number of people have been taken into custody” after an operation that lasted half a day came to an end.
People in the 553 neighbourhood of the town were told to shelter in place at 7:30am on Friday and others were asked to avoid the area.
RCMP lifted that advisory just after 3pm.

The exact nature of what took place remains unconfirmed.
“Additional information will provided at a later time,” RCMP stated on Friday afternoon while thanking residents for their cooperation.
Police said residents “can expect to see a continued police presence in the area as the investigation into this incident continues.”
No injuries were reported as a result of Friday’s events.
