Three students from Yellowknife are shortlisted for an award billed as being worth more than $100,000 in support over four years of post-secondary education.

The Loran Award, given out to a few dozen people annually, will select 2025’s recipients at a Toronto selection camp in February.

The Loran Scholars Foundation says winners receive a “four-year leadership enrichment program including summer work experiences, one-on-one mentorship, scholar gatherings, an annual living stipend, a tuition waiver at one of 25 university partners, and a long-term community of peers, alumni, and supporters from coast to coast to coast.”

This year, Yellowknife trio Ella Bertelsen, Audrey Debogorski and Stella Fairman are on the list of finalists.

The foundation said more than 6,000 students had applied for scholarships.
