Two scheming puppets, a bingo hall and some questionable life choices are set to bring laughs to Snowkings’ Winter Festival on its opening weekend.
Performed by the Kestrel Puppet Players, this puppet comedy follows Flogg and Schlepp, two best friends (or worst influences) looking for an easy payday.
“We found ourselves a little short on cash,” says performer Sean Daly, voicing Flogg. “And where’s the cash? The bingo hall! That’s where they play games for money.”
But puppeteering isn’t just about moving a puppet’s mouth – it’s about making them feel alive.
“It’s all about energy,” explains Paul McKee, another member of the crew.
“Instead of acting yourself, you have to pour all that energy into the puppet. And sometimes, their limitations make things even funnier.”
Some puppets are more demanding than others of the spotlight.
“I bring the va-va-voom to this show,” boasts Rosalie Scott, voicing Patsy, a self-proclaimed puppet diva.
The show is free with Snowcastle admission. You’ll find it in the castle’s Grand Hall from 2pm on Sunday, March 2.
Grab a hot chocolate, go down the slide, then join Flogg and Schlepp for some puppet-fuelled chaos.
“You’ll hear us loud and clear,” promises McKee.
