After some delays, a Ricky’s All Day Grill is set to officially open in Yellowknife later this week.
Franchisees Sweets Dhillon and Amritpal Dhaliwal, who have come to Yellowknife from Whitehorse to set up the restaurant, initially advertised an opening date of February 4.
Late last month, however, they said that opening date was being pushed back due to “construction and equipment delays.”
In a message posted on Facebook this week, the owners thanked community members who attended a soft opening of the restaurant on Tuesday. They said the restaurant will officially open its doors on Friday.
“Your love and support mean the world to us. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the food, drinks, and company,” the post states.
Ricky’s is part of what appears to be a revitalization of the upper Centre Square Mall in recent months.
Stores and cafés to have opened in the mall’s upper level over the past year include Ricky’s, games store Mavinjus, a grocery store, a Filipino restaurant and a bakery.
