Get rid of hazardous waste for free on these days

The City of Yellowknife is letting you empty your household of hazardous waste for free. No, don’t be mean about your roommate.

Nothing alive is included on the list of accepted items, so no matter how bad your child’s room smells, this is not for them.

But you can get rid of antifreeze, propane cylinders, household cleaning products, motor oil, driveway sealant and all kinds of other things that aren’t considered regular garbage.

In a news release, the city said it was partnering with KBL Environmental to create a two-day window when you can take household hazardous waste to the dump for free.

On June 28 and 29 from 11am to 3pm, you can take items on this list to the solid waste facility without charge. (You’ll still be charged if you bring anything that’s not on the list.)
