Seniors’ care group Avens is staging a “vibrant display of classic cars from various eras” at its Yellowknife campus on Saturday, June 14.
The event, which includes a barbecue, runs from 11am till 3pm. Admission is free.
Organizers said they want to showcase “classic, new and unique vehicles from around town.” Residents can contact Avens if they’re interested in bringing a vehicle of their own.
Lindsey Dwojak, Avens’ chief people officer, said the project was an attempt to introduce “something new and exciting” for residents of Avens facilities.
“There’s something truly special about the nostalgia of a classic car show – the stories behind the vehicles, the craftsmanship, and the memories they evoke,” Dwojak stated in a press release.
“I’m thrilled that we’ve attracted such a diverse mix of vehicles and that we’re able to open this event to the wider community.”
Avens president and chief executive officer Daryl Dolynny said the event allowed the group to show off its new building, the Aven Pavilion, and “celebrate Father’s Day weekend in style.”
