The Dene Nation says its 2025 Dene National Assembly will take place in Fort Good Hope, Radįlįh Kóe, in mid-September.
Each year, the Dene National Assembly brings together leaders, Elders and community members from across the Dene Nation’s constituent communities.
This year’s assembly will take place from September 16-18, the Dene Nation confirmed this week.
That comes after last year’s assembly was moved from Fort Good Hope because of a wildfire threat at the time.
“The decision to host the assembly in Radįlįh Kóe was made with careful consideration of the seasonal challenges posed by wildfires,” the Dene Nation stated this week.
“By selecting these dates, the Dene Nation aims to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, while also providing an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and cultural exchange in a serene and secure environment.”
The agenda and registration details will be made available in the coming weeks, the Dene Nation said.
“The Dene National Assembly serves as a vital platform for the Dene people to unite, share knowledge, and strengthen their collective voice,” the organization stated in a news release.
“It is an opportunity to celebrate their rich cultural heritage, Dene rights, and chart a course for the future. Attendees can expect a series of discussions and cultural events to bring us together on issues of common concern.”
