The Gwich’in Tribal Council says Brenda McDonald has taken over as its interim chief executive officer with immediate effect.
Prior CEO Jamie Koe, who had worked with former grand chief Ken Kyikavichik, was dismissed in February. Mark Ellwood briefly served as Koe’s replacement.
In a Sunday statement, the Gwich’in Tribal Council said McDonald is a Gwich’in descendant who has formerly worked with the Délı̨nę Got’ı̨nę Government, CanNor and the NWT government, among others.
“The GTC board is confident that Brenda’s leadership will ensure continuity and progress as the organization advances its strategic goals and prepares for the selection of a permanent chief executive officer,” the tribal council stated.
