The northern Alberta town of High Level has chosen Josh Lambert as its new mayor, receiving 316 votes to rival Brent Anderson’s 239.
Longtime mayor Crystal McAteer, first elected in 2013, did not seek re-election.
Lambert, a town councillor for the past four years, had said he wanted to bring “more momentum” to council on issues like building more housing and strengthening regional partnerships.
According to unofficial results issued by the town, six councillors were elected: Belinda Forest, Boyd Langford, Mark Liboiron, Brielle Mercredi, Scott Nickoi and Jori Zatko.
