The City of Yellowknife has opened the application process for its 2026 community grants and heritage committee grants.

Community grants provide money to non-profit groups under the categories of either community service, multi-year grants or sponsorships. The sums available stretch to $50,000 depending on the category.

“Projects must demonstrate a clear community impact and respond to local needs,” the city stated.

You can get a sense of projects previously funded through the program by examining the grant review committee’s minutes from prior years (though the committee’s recommendations go through council for approval, and so are subject to change).

Heritage committee grants are for anyone with a project to “celebrate, promote and preserve Yellownife’s heritage.” The committee can award up to $5,000 per project from this fund, though council can approve extra cash up to $10,000.
