The Hamlet of Aklavik is asking residents to conserve water as it deals with an issue at its water treatment plant.

The hamlet advised residents on Tuesday that its office and other organizations’ offices in the community would be closed in order to conserve water, as first reported by CBC.

Moose Kerr School announced on Facebook Tuesday morning that it would be closed for the remainder of the day due to water issues.

The hamlet said staff from the Town of Inuvik would be travelling to Aklavik to assist with the issue at the water plant.

It said it would provide an update at 9pm on Facebook.
