Nobody was injured in a Monday morning fire on Yellowknife’s Banke Crescent, the City of Yellowknife’s fire division says.

According to the city, 16 firefighters were deployed to bring the fire under control. It had been reported just after 11am.

The city said the fire was “successfully contained to the area of origin at the front of the structure.” Its cause remains undetermined.

“Fire safety devices were present and operational within the residence at the time of the incident,” the city stated in a Tuesday news release.

“The YKFD would like to remind residents of the importance of maintaining working smoke alarms in their homes.”
