The NWT government will hold two online sessions on June 16 and June 18 to try to help employers and foreign nationals better understand the territory’s nominee program.

The sessions will also allow attendees to ask GNWT staff questions about the program.

The nominee program is a key immigration stream that helps foreign nationals work toward permanent residency and helps employers fill vacancies where no suitable local applicants were found.

It has undergone significant shifts in the past couple of years, with the NWT’s federally set applicant cap fluctuating and the territory’s rules changing. Now, a new points system is in place.

In a news release, the GNWT said the sessions are being held ahead of the next expression of interest draw – a feature of the new system – which is scheduled for June 25.
