Cabin Radio’s Northern Knockout: The World Cup but with NWT communities

With 32 teams left in the World Cup, we randomly paired each one with an NWT community. See how far your favourite community can go.

By the end of June 27, the World Cup had reached the knockout stage and the number of teams left in the event was roughly the same as the number of communities in the Northwest Territories.

We took the list of teams and randomly assigned them to NWT communities. We’re calling it Cabin Radio’s Northern Knockout.

If you didn’t already have a team to support – or even if you did – you can now be a fan of your favourite NWT community for the rest of the tournament. If their assigned country wins, they win.

Here’s the schedule for each day to help you figure out when to watch. We’ll update this page as the tournament plays out.

One last thing: we took out Yellowknife (and entered the Yellowknives Dene First Nation’s two communities as a combined team) to match the number of teams available.

Yellowknife gets enough, so you guys can skip this one and pick your favourite smaller community. If it’s easier, you can pretend you were Qatar.
