Inuvik RCMP say they have charged an 18-year-old with possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

In a Tuesday news release, police said the man is also charged with distribution, transmission or the making available of that material.

RCMP named the person charged as Adam Mourtada. The charges have yet to be tested in court.

Several electronic devices have been seized for forensic examination, RCMP stated, following an investigation that began a year ago and concluded in an arrest on June 23.

Mourtada has been released on conditions and is due in court on July 21, RCMP stated.
