A wildfire reported on the Ndılǫ peninsula has been quickly extinguished, NWT Fire said on Thursday afternoon.
The fire, given the label ZF027, was reported just before 11am.
According to NWT Fire, it was located at the tip of the community of Ndılǫ in an area of brush. Ndılǫ is a small Yellowknives Dene First Nation community directly connected to Yellowknife at the NWT capital’s northern edge.
In an email to Cabin Radio shortly before 1:30pm on Thursday, NWT Fire said it did not know what had caused the fire.

“It was actioned quickly by firefighters,” the wildfire agency stated, adding ZF027 had been declared out and the agency’s website would be updated shortly.
The fire is at least the second brush fire within the community limits of Ndılǫ and Yellowknife in the past 24 hours.
On Canada Day, a group of boaters banded together to put out a brush fire attributed to an electrocuted raven catching fire and falling into nearby foliage.
A region-wide fire ban is in place throughout the North and South Slave, including all of Yellowknife and Ndılǫ.
