The City of Yellowknife is introducing a three-way stop at an intersection connecting into the Niven subdivision.

Up till now, drivers coming from 49 Avenue onto Niven Drive (or 43 Street, as it is known at that point) have been forbidden from turning left. Traffic on Niven Drive has not been able to turn onto 49 Avenue.

The city said the change is intended to “improve traffic flow and enhance access to local businesses in the downtown core.”

The three-way stop was due to be introduced between late Monday and early Tuesday.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of residents and local businesses while this critical infrastructure replacement project continues,” the city stated.
