A black bear spent part of Thursday evening strolling through the woods at the top of Yellowknife’s Niven subdivision.
A bear had earlier been reported by the NWT’s Department of Environment and Climate Change in the city’s Parker Park, Mandeville Drive and Utsingi Drive areas.
Carrie Lauder shot this footage, shared with Cabin Radio, of the bear near the fire break that runs along the top of Moyle Drive toward Back Bay.
In the video, the bear can be seen wandering in the direction of trails that form the Yellowknife Ski Club.
Earlier this week, a bear seen in the Northlands neighbourhood of Yellowknife was ultimately killed by wildlife officers, the CBC reported.
Wildlife emergency numbers can be found on the GNWT’s website. If you see a bear in Yellowknife, report it by calling 867-446-2073.
