Less than three days after a dump truck working construction on the Ingraham Trail fell into Pontoon Lake, a second vehicle was in the water.
Residents shared photos with Cabin Radio on Friday that appear to show an excavator in the lake.
A report on the Department of Environment and Climate Change’s spills database indicates an instrument spilled 450 litres of fuel.
Following publication of this story, the Department of Infrastructure confirmed to Cabin Radio that an excavator working to widen the nearby embankment of the Ingraham Trail “became partially submerged” in Pontoon Lake on Friday after “a portion of the construction embankment fill slumped.”
The department said no injuries were reported in the incident.

It said RTL Robinson Enterprises Ltd, the company contracted to work on the highway construction project, had deployed spill containment measures as a precaution until the excavator is removed from the water, adding that residents may experience delays on the highway.

The infrastructure department previously said a dump truck fell into the lake around 11am on Tuesday when a construction embankment slumped. There were no injuries reported in that incident and the truck was recovered by 5:30am on Wednesday.
While a spill report was made in connection to the incident, a spokesperson for the department said RTL had found no signs of a spill.
