Watch out for a black bear around Yellowknife’s England Crescent on Wednesday afternoon. A Cabin Radio host happened to see it amble through the neighbourhood.

Scott Letkeman watched as the bear crossed the street, hopped a fence and disappeared into another stretch of the territorial capital’s suburbs just before 2pm.

“He scaled that fence like nothing,” Letkeman said.

The street in question is between Kam Lake and Range Lake, not far from the wooded airport perimeter.

Bears are not uncommon in the city, although they tend to spark dozens of Facebook shares and plenty of interest whenever they make an appearance.

Wildlife emergency numbers can be found on the GNWT’s website. If you see a bear in Yellowknife, report it by calling 867-446-2073.
