Yellowknife’s sexual health clinic will start accepting walk-in clients every Wednesday in a trial designed to improve access to its services.
The clinic, at the city’s primary care centre on 48 Street, will take walk-ins from 9am-12pm and 1-3pm each Wednesday.
“The walk-in clinic is intended to improve access to confidential sexual health services, particularly for people who may experience barriers to accessing care through scheduled appointments,” the NWT’s health authority stated in a news release.
Services you can access include testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, sexual health assessment and counselling, “prevention education” and vaccinations.
“This service is being introduced as a trial to improve access to timely, flexible, and confidential sexual health care. Demand and feedback will be monitored and the service adjusted as needed.”
Scheduled appointments remain available for people who prefer them.
